Pick up your rental car at Copenhagen Airport and drive to the city center. Explore Nyhavn’s colorful streets, the Little Mermaid statue, Amalienborg Palace, Kongens Nytorv, and Town Hall Square at your own pace.
Overnight in Copenhagen.
Drive the scenic Strandvejen coastal road to Hillerød’s Frederiksborg Castle and Fredensborg Castle gardens. Continue to Kronborg Castle in Elsinore, Hamlet’s setting, taking in coastal views before returning to Copenhagen.
Overnight in Copenhagen.
Drive to Roskilde to visit the Cathedral and Viking Ship Museum. Cross the Great Belt Bridge to Funen, with optional stops in Nyborg and Andersen’s hometown, Odense. Finish your journey in Kolding for the night.

Visit Koldinghus Castle in Kolding, then drive to Ribe, Denmark’s oldest town. Stop in Esbjerg to see the “Man Meets the Sea” sculptures before taking a short ferry ride to Fanø Island to enjoy its beaches.

Leave Fanø for Jelling to view the UNESCO Viking Runestones. Continue through Viborg to see its cathedral, then head to Aalborg to explore the city center and the Lindholm Høje Viking burial site.

Drive north from Aalborg to Skagen, stopping at Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse for coastal views. Continue to Grenen to see the North and Baltic Seas collide. Return to Aalborg for your second night.

Head south from Aalborg, stopping at Fyrkat Viking fortress in Hobro. Arrive in Aarhus to explore the ARoS Art Museum, Den Gamle By open-air museum, and the charming Latin Quarter filled with shops and cafés.
