Pick up rental car; drive south coast (~261 km / 162 mi). Visit 40m Seljalandsfoss (walk behind cascade), Skógafoss, and Reynisfjara black sand beach (caution: dangerous rogue waves/undertows; stay back).
Overnight in Kirkjubæjarklaustur area.
Drive ~317 km / 196 mi to Skaftafell in Vatnajökull National Park (glacier hike/climbing requires licensed guide). See Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon (floating icebergs), Diamond Beach (polished ice), Fjallsárlón lagoon, and charming Vík village.
Overnight in Vík area.
Drive Golden Circle (~316 km / 196 mi): visit Kerið crater, two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall, Haukadalur geothermal area (Geysir and active Strokkur erupting every few mins), and UNESCO Þingvellir National Park (walk tectonic plate rift valley). Return to Reykjavík.
Overnight in Reykjavík.
Optional Blue Lagoon geothermal spa visit to unwind in warm mineral waters before heading to the airport (optional, not included). Return your self-drive car at the airport before departure.
